Velocity is located in a quiet residential area towards the outskirts of Norwich.
It’s just a short walk or quick cycle from the UEA, so the shops, cafés and bars on the campus are all within easy reach.
There’s an ALDI supermarket around half a mile away (you can walk in 12 minutes or cycle in three minutes).
Don’t feel like cooking? There’s also a fish and chip shop and a Chinese take-away just around the corner.
Because Norwich is relatively small, many students prefer to get around by bicycle, using the city’s ever-expanding network of cycle lanes.
Nearby Earlham Road, which leads from UEA to the city centre, has recently been remodelled to include broad cycle lanes for much of its length.
There’s a covered area for cycles at Velocity, and you can ride to UEA, NUA or the city centre in minutes.
Or, if you prefer, just hop on a bus. A city-centre service leaves every 15 minutes from close to Velocity, or you can catch a bus from the UEA campus.
We don’t have any on-site parking spaces, but there are no local parking restrictions and you may be able to find a space on the road outside.
Central Norwich offers loads of great shopping, including the lively open-air market and the bohemian Norwich Lanes.
There’s a wide range of restaurants, pubs, bars and clubs to suit every taste and budget.
There are also many fascinating museums and historic buildings, including Norwich Castle, and a peaceful riverside walk.
You’ll find plenty of peaceful green spaces within easy reach of Velocity.
Earlham Park is right beside UEA, and it’s just a little further to Eaton Park, which is probably the most popular green space in Norwich.
As a UEA student, you can make use of the superb Sportspark, just six minutes from Velocity by bicycle. It has a swimming pool, extensive gym, indoor rock climbing, athletics facilities, squash, badminton and more.
Velocity is towards the outskirts of Norwich, so it’s easy to get away to the countryside whenever you want – particularly by cycling.
Norwich and Norfolk are both popular tourist destinations. Venturing further afield, you can discover Norfolk’s varied coastline, head to the busy seaside resorts or relax in the beauty of the Norfolk Broads.
